MP Amr Darwish stressed that the Egyptian judiciary is impartial, denying the allegations of Alaa Abdel Fattah’s family against the Egyptian state.

During press statements on Wednesday on the sidelines of his participation in the climate conference COP27, held in Sharm el-Sheikh, MP Darwish, who was escorted out on Tuesday by the security of a press conference about British-Egyptian jailed activist, Alaa Abdel Fattah after a verbal altercation with his sister Sanaa Seif, wondered how the United Nations, as the organizer of this big global event, allowed the family of Abdel-Fattah to hold such a press conference.

MP Darwish, said that the wave of antagonism against Egypt by some civil society organizations is not accepted by any Egyptian citizen.

A number of citizens showed solidarity on Wednesday with MP Darwish.

Meanwhile, Egyptian MPs and major political parties teamed up yesterday to condemn what they called the politicisation of the agenda of human rights during the COP27 climate change summit which is being held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.

The MPs remarks came in response to statements released by some members of the UN Human Rights Council in which those members raised concerns about the treatment of jailed activist Alaa Abdel-Fattah.Egyptian judiciary impartial – says Darwish 16 - Egyptian Gazette

MPs and political parties also condemned what they termed “the uncivilised reaction” of UN officials towards MP Amr Drawish, who was forbidden to provide clarifications on the case of Abdel-Fattah.

Darwish released a video saying he was “surprised by the strange treatment I received from the UN and the organisers of the conference, which contradicts Article 19 of the UN Human Rights Declaration of Human Rights related to freedom of speech.”

“We cannot call on foreign entities and the international community to solve Egyptian matters, especially with fraudulent facts and allegations about a proven criminal who committed felonies. In the end I said that anyone can approach the Presidential Pardon Committee,” Darwish said in press statement.
