Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr. Ahmed el-Tayyeb has offered a painting to Vatican Pope Francis as a gift that depicts the document of human fraternity issued in the UAE in 2019.
Pope Francis, for his part, offered Tayyeb a “Tree of Life” sculpture that symbolises hope for a long future of brotherly relations full of prosperity, Al Azhar said in a statement on Wednesday.
Tayyeb and Francis met during their historic visit to Bahrain, as they attended a forum on dialogue between the East and West.
The painting offered by Tayyeb is a gesture of promoting dialogue between the East and West, as well as spreading the culture of tolerance, peaceful co-existence and fraternal co-operation.
