Cairo, Sharm el-Sheikh airports began receiving participants in COP27 which will start from Sunday November 6, until November 18, 2022, where the number of conference guests is expected to reach 40,000 participants, including more than 60 heads of state and a king in addition to prime ministers and civil society organisations.

Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy confirmed that the ministry, its bodies and subsidiaries have intensified their efforts as the maximum degree of readiness has been raised at Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh airports, and work teams have been formed in coordination between all companies affiliated with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and all parties concerned to provide all facilities to the guests of Egypt, reflecting the ability and capabilities of the Egyptian state.

The minister highlighted the readiness of the Egyptian airports, especially Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh airports to receive the delegates of the conference in a manner that befits Egypt’s position and leadership regionally and internationally, praising the efforts and co-operation of all the Egyptian state institutions for the success of this great global event.

Minister Helmy directed the necessity of providing all facilities and the highest quality of services to the guests of Egypt participating in the summit, in order for the conference to come out in an honourable manner befitting Egypt’s stature and reflecting the ability and efforts of the Egyptian state to support climate change issues.

Preparations have been intensified at Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh airports, in coordination between various companies and all authorities concerned, as work teams from various disciplines have been formed to work 24 hours a day to expedite the procedures for the arrival of participating delegations to Sharm el-Sheikh and Cairo airports in coordination with all operating agencies.

The Cairo Port Company allocated counters to finalise the procedures for the arrival of climate summit delegations, and preparing hospitality and VIP breaks in the international arrival halls.

Special guiding signs were set for delegations in the international arrival halls and domestic travel, and a shuttle bus was provided between the three buildings of Cairo Airport (1, 2 and 3) to transport delegations.

Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport has also completed its preparations to receive the conference delegates after it was developed to accommodate 10 million passengers annually instead of 7.5 million passengers.

The aircraft parking lots were increased to 67 places to accommodate the increased air traffic to Sharm el-Sheikh airport.

All guiding signs and logo of the conference in all arrival and travel halls, and a promotional film about it will be shown on screens inside Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh airports throughout the duration of the conference. The film is also shown in all Egyptian airports.

For its part, EgyptAir, headed by Engineer Yahya Zakaria, the official carrier of the climate conference, will organise about 250 flights between Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh airports during the period of the summit to transport about 40,000 participants in the conference with the company’s latest aircraft, in addition to direct flights to Sharm El Sheikh Airport from London, Paris , Frankfurt, Munich, Istanbul, Dubai, Lagos and Nairobi.

An advertisement film about the conference, eco-tourism and the city of Sharm el-Sheikh will be shown on EgyptAir flights to promote the big event on the land of Egypt.

The national company has finished preparing the advertising pavilion allocated to it inside the Climate Summit Hall COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, through which EgyptAir provides all the necessary facilities to the participating delegations and introduces them to the various services provided by EgyptAir to its passengers around the world and offers a package of distinguished tourism programmes to the conference guests.
