Egypt’s Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour had talks on Wednesday with EU Ambassador to Egypt Christian Berger on means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and innovation.

The talks tackled Egypt’s participation in the EU initiatives to support Egyptian researchers.

During the meeting, Ashour underlined the importance of announcing the EU-funded programs for researchers and teaching staff to offer them a chance to take part in them.

For his part, Berger lauded Egypt as a key Middle East partner for the EU, referring to ongoing cooperation in various domains, especially educational and scientific research scores.

He noted that the EU’s Erasmus and Erasmus+ programs aim to support academic students’ exchange as well as scientific innovation.

Berger said he is looking forward to enhancing cooperation with Egypt in all domains, especially clean energy, technological development and digital economy.

The talks tackled cooperation between Egyptian technological and Ahleyya universities with their EU counterparts in addition to organizing workshops with the participation of teaching staff and researchers with an aim of preparing EU-funded programs.
