Egypt’s Ambassador to EU Badr Abdel Ati reviewed the latest organizational developments of the 27th United Nations climate Change Conference (COP27), due to be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh in November.

He made the remarks during a discussion panel on climate change issues, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday on its Facebook page.

Abdel Ati said the discussions focused on the close link between environmental and climate change issues as well as biodiversity.

He noted that Egypt as the president of COP27 seeks to highlight the link between biodiversity and climate change.

Meanwhile, the attendees said they are looking forward to the success of the climate event to reach applicable solutions to confront climate change, especially in developing countries.

The success of the Sharm conference will largely contribute to mobilizing efforts for the biodiversity conference due to be held in Montreal.

Within this context, Abdel Ati had talks with senior officials of the Hydrogen Council.

Abdel Ati stressed that Egypt is prioritizing investment in the energy sector, reviewing ongoing efforts for Egypt to become an energy hub.

For their part, the council’s officials said they are looking forward to promoting cooperation with Egypt in the green hydrogen domain.

They are also looking forward to participating in the Sharm el Sheikh climate change conference which represents a key chance for highlighting Egypt’s potentials in the energy score.
