CAIRO – Commander of the Egyptian Navy Rear Admiral Ashraf Ibrahim Atwa on Thursday held a press conference to mark the 55th anniversary of the Egyptian Navy Day, which falls on October 21.
During the news conference held at the Naval Forces Command’s headquarters in Ras El-Tin of Alexandria, Atwa said the political leadership and the Armed Forces’ General Command spare no effort to support and develop the naval forces.
In this regard, he noted that several naval bases, ports and docks were established and modernised in line with the applicable international standards to be ready for hosting different maritime operations on all strategic directions at the same time and with high combat capabilities.
The development of maritime bases helped the naval forces in securing the State’s interests and preserving national security, Atwa added.
