The Egyptian Agriculture Minister El Sayyed El Qusseir had a meeting on Tuesday with his Gabonese counterpart Charles Mve Ellah to discuss boosting bilateral co-operation in the different agriculture fields.

During his meeting with Ellah and his accompanying delegation, Qusseir said that African countries are currently in dire need of cooperation and integration, particularly in light of the current global challenges, topped by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and climate changes that have a significant impact on the agricultural sector and its workers.

He further stressed that the Egyptian government’s support of Gabon, referring to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to provide all aspects of support to the African brothers in all areas related to the agricultural sector, to help achieve food security and self-sufficiency.

For his part, the Gabonese agriculture minister underlined the depth of ties between the two countries and the tangible efforts exerted by the Egyptian Agriculture Ministry, saying Egypt has the technology, capabilities and potentials that enable it to make a breakthrough in agriculture co-operation.

He also underlined the possibility of cooperation in the cultivation of rice and corn, stressing that there are opportunities for agricultural investment in his country.

At the end of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to finalise the memorandum of understanding between the two sides in the fishery field.
