Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine el-Qabbag was present at the launch of the Baheya Foundation’s first forum themed ‘Partners of Success’.

Chairman of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi and General Supervisor of the National Council for People with Disabilities Iman Karim attended the event, which was held under the auspices of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.

The minister spoke highly of the Baheya Foundation’s mission to fight breast cancer.

The Baheya Institution is named after Baheya Wahby of a prominent Egyptian family who dies after a long battle with cancer.

During the event, the minister paid tributes to Wahby, whose inspiration was behind the establishment of the foundation, and Anisa Hassouna, former CEO of El-Nas Hospital, who also died of cancer.

El-Qabbag said that her ministry has pledged to support the Sheikh Zayed branch of the Baheya Hospital, due to open in March 2023.

The minister added that the foundation has kept pace with scientific research and psychological developments in partnership with all state institutions to control breast cancer.

El-Qabbag added that the political leadership attaches paramount importance to improving women’s health, referring the ministry campaign to screen 28 million women to detect breast cancer in its early stages.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity believes that a woman’s health is an integral part of the welfare of the family, el-Qabbag said, pointing out that her ministry is expanding the Takaful and Karama programme to help those in need, in tandem with the Two Are Enough Programme to rein in population increase and the Mawadda awareness programme for those who are about to marry.
