Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah El Sisi has called for the establishment of a large centre for human organ transplant within the new world-standard medical city now under launch as a development of the Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo’s northern district of Sahel.
The President’s call was contained in remarks he made during a meeting with senior aides on Monday to follow up on state efforts to upgrade the national healthcare system, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
Attending the meeting were Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, the Armed Forces Engineering Authority head, Gen Hishaam Suwaifi, and the Military Works Department Director, Gen Mohamed Moustafa.
Following a briefing he received on the pace of action to develop the Nasser Institute Hospital into world-standard medical city, President Sisi gave directives for the launch of a regional centre for human organ transplantation as the largest such facility in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa, spokesman Radi said.
In this connection, President Sisi recommended co-operation with the world’s major specialised companies in the establishment of the projected centre in order to build an integrated system that comprises an automated database for organ transplantation operation, patients and donors, the Presidency spokesman said.
During the meeting, Minister Abdel-Ghaffar outlined the state’s healthcare map, referring in his presentation to the medical equipment and human resources available at public, private and community hospitals and healthcare installations.
Following this presentation, President Sisi gave directives for accelerating the application of a package of incentives for medical crews and the operation of evening clinics at hospitals, Spokesman Radi said, adding that the President called in this connection for devoting a part of the revenues of such clinics to physicians and assisting crews.
In a relevant move, President Sisi has given directives to the government to accelerate the establishment of strategic warehouses for medical supplies in order to meet the needs of present and future consumption.
The president gave directives to this effect during a meeting he called yesterday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the Cabinet ministers of health and planning, and some top state officials, Spokesman Radi said in a statement.
The meeting was devoted to a review of the latest developments of action to set up a system of strategic stores for medical supplies, the spokesman said.
In remarks during the meeting, President Sisi explained that the projected system aims to build a national capability to ensure the availability of such medical strategic reserves as would suffice for meeting the needs or current and future consumption.
The directives that the President gave during the meeting called for observance of world standards and the utilisation of latest technologies in the establishment of stock depots, spokesman Radi said, adding that President Sisi also called for ensuring the sustainability of efficient operation and management of the system.
