CAIRO – Egyptian Environment Minister Yassmin Fouad examined on Sunday a number of industrial facilities in the Sixth of October city as part of preparations for hostingclimate change (COP27) conference that will be held in November in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

She said the conference provides an opportunity for fostering cooperation with the private sector to turn into green economy in a bid to alleviate impact of climate change.

The minister gave the remarks during an inspection tour of several facilities in 6th of October city.

The minister began the tour by a visit to Rameda pharmaceutical company that took several measures to rationalise water consumption by setting up a plant to treat industrial wastewater with a capacity of 700 cubic metre per day.

The minister made clear that treated water is used in irrigating green areas inside and outside the company, reducing pollution by 66 per cent.

The company also used natural gas as an alternative to heavy fuel, lowering emissions by 75 to 99 per cent.
