CAIRO – Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said Saturday that the car replacement initiative is set to be extended to cover the minibus transport services.

According to the new move, necessary executive measures are being devised to cover replacement of aging and old models of minibuses and microbuses, manufactured 20 years ago or more, and used in transportation, with new ones, powered with natural gas, Maait said in a statement.

The initiative is expected to cover the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia, Alexandria, Suez, Port Said, and the Red Sea as a first phase, the minister added.

This comes as part of Egypt’s efforts to turn into green economy and heavily rely on clean energy, as well as relieve the burdens on citizens by easing the purchase of modern eco-friendly vehicles through unprecedented credit facilities, he said.

Applicants have to submit their requests on www.gogreenmasr.com to join the green incentive initiative which allows a discount of up to EGP 65 thousand on new vehicle prices. (MENA)
