CAIRO – Egypt attaches special importance to the climate change issue, affirmed Al-Azhar Undersecretary Mohamed Abdel Rahman el-Duwaini.
Highlighting Egypt’s attention to this pressing issue, Duwaini pointed out to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s participation in several initiatives and proceedings related to climate change.
He further underlined the need of the various institutions’ participation to implement a unified goal to tackle the climate change-related issues.
Speaking during the proceedings of the press conference organised by the Islamic Research Academy (IRA) to launch a public initiative, which mainly aims to spread awareness about climate and its adverse impact, Duwaini said that the initiative comes as part of a series of initiatives launched by Al-Azhar to raise awareness about environmental issues.
The initiative presents a scientific vision to confront climate change and confront climate change in an integrated manner that achieves the State’s vision and its national strategy, he further said.
The press conference was attended by the IRA’s Secretary-General Nazir Ayyad and Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad.
