Parl't renews confidence in Madbouli's gov't, endorses reshuffle 11 - Egyptian Gazette

The House of Representatives, under Speaker Hanafi Gebali, renewed on Saturday confidence in the government of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and endorsed a Cabinet reshuffle that included 13 protfolios.

Under the reshuffle, Deputy Minister of Education for Teachers’ Affairs Reda Hegazi will serve as Minister of Education and Technical Education and Professor of Sustainable Development and Water Resources Management at AUC Hani Nebhan Sowelim will become Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar will assume the portfolio of the Health and Population Ministry and Deputy Minister of Higher Education Mohamed Ayman Ahmed Ashour will serve as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The reshuffle appointed Assistant Foreign Minister Soha Samir as Minister of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs and CEO of the banking retail trade sector of the Commercial International Bank Ahmed Eissa Taha Eissa Abu Hussein will become Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.

Head of the House’s Committee of Economic Affairs Ahmed Samir Saleh will assume the portfolio of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and Egyptian Air Force Commander Mohammed Abbas Helmy Hashem will serve as Minister of Civil Aviation.

Also, Secretary General of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) Hassan Mohamed Hassan Shehata will become Minister of Manpower.

Dean of the Higher Institute of Art Criticism of the Academy of Arts Neveen el Kilany will serve as Minister of Culture and
Beheira Governor Hisham Abdel Ghani Abdel Aziz Amnaa will become Minister of Local Development.

In addition, Mahmoud Moustafa Kamal Esmaat will serve as Minister of Public Business Sector and Vice Chairman of the National Authority for Military Production Mohamed Salah Eddin will become Minister of Military Production.

Earlier in the day, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi called on the House of Representatives to convene to consider a Cabinet reshuffle covering some ministerial portfolios, which were agreed to be changed following consultations with the prime minister.

The president said the move aims to develop the government performance in some important files at both the domestic and foreign levels.

The reshuffle is meant to contribute to safeguarding the interests of the state and serving Egyptian citizens, the president added.
