ALAMEIN, Egypt – The Egyptian Cabinet, under Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, approved a draft decree Thursday to adopt several procedures meant to implement the State’s plan to rationalise electricity consumption.
The plan mainly aims to augment the export rates of gas and save foreign currency.
The first article of the draft decree obliges all units at the State administrative body to rationalize electricity consumption during the official working hours and abide by switching off lights at all government buildings after the end of official working hours, except for service buildings.
The measures also oblige all shops and restaurants to abide by the official opening and closing time.
Among the included decisions is adjusting the air conditioner’s temperature to 25º in malls along with reducing lighting of stadiums and giant facilities.
