A Social Solidarity Ministry teamin Egypt visited a nursery school in Alexandria on Sunday to investigate social media reports about the alleged torture of a disabled boy in the school.
The team’s visit to the school came after Minister Neveen el-Kabbaj directed her ministry officials to investigate the reports.
The school, called Help Academy, turned out not to be operating under the umbrella of the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
The members of the team also discovered that the school had acquired its operation license from the Commerce Chamber in Alexandria, in violation of Child Lawno. 12/1996 and Disabled Persons Law no. 10/2018.
The school is specialised in disabled children’s care and offers them educational training and training in psychology and skill development.
The school’s workers conceded, meanwhile, that reports about the beating of the boy are true.
Nevertheless, the boy’s guardian said his condition is not stable, noting that the boy was not beaten severely by the school staff as claimed.
The school’s director revealed, meanwhile, that an investigation had already been opened about the reasons why one of the workers of the school had beaten the child.
The director added that the worker committing this infringement had already been sacked.
However, the Ministry of Social Solidarity had taken legal measures against the school which had been sent a closure order by the ministry previously.
