CAIRO – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a cable of greetings to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

In a personal message to President Sisi, Modi pointed out that Eid Al Adha, which he called a festival, is also celebrated by over 200 million Indians of the Islamic faith, according to a statement by the Indian Embassy in Cairo on Sunday.

He defined Eid Al Adha as “a festival spreading a message of love, piety, sacrifice and forgiveness and that these are the universal human values of overriding relevance in today’s world.”

Modi highlighted close relations between India and Egypt from ancient times. He stated that the similar views of India and Egypt on many global issues and close cooperation in bilateral and multilateral forums have nurtured the relations.

Modi expressed India’s commitment to building a new partnership on this foundation. He expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation between India and Egypt will expand rapidly for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both countries.
