The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Tarek El Molla announced Sunday the start of steps to establish an oil area in Tibbin, a Cairo suburb, on 1,000 feddans .
During a meeting of the higher committee for geographic oil areas in the presence of oil sector officials, the minister said the new area includes a number of projects topped by the expansions of the national network to transfer of oil products to and from Upper Egypt, along with the activities of Petrojet, Petrogas, Egypt Gas, Modern Gas and Cooperation Petroleum companies.
A statement issued by the ministry said the EGP 1.8 billion project, called “Modern Area”, would help pump crude oil from Ain Al Sukhna to Tibbin area from which it will be distributed to upper Egyptian governorates.
The project is part of unprecedented steps taken by the ministry to expand oil projects across the country.
