The African Union (AU) commission said it will co-organize a high-level conference to encourage rational governance and fight corruption.

The two-day conference will take place in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, as of Monday.

In a report, the commission said it will co-organize the conference with the African Training Institute of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The conference will tackle growth opportunities in Africa and efforts to implement the 2063 agenda and the goals of sustainable development, especially after the recovery from coronavirus.

The conference will provide a platform for both the AU and the IMF to present their visions on rational governance and exchange viewpoints as regards ways of fighting corruption, the report said.

More than 200 officials were invited to take part in the conference, including economy, finance and planning ministers, governors of central banks as well as representatives of regional economic committees and civil society, it added.

Policy makers, government experts, academics, representatives of regional organizations and officials of the AU and IMF will address the conference.

It will be a hybrid event that will combine between in-person participation and online one.
