NPA denies transferring asset ownership of 3 press institutions to sovereign party 1 - Egyptian Gazette

CAIRO – The National Press Authority (NPA) in Egypt on Friday refuted reports by a Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated media outlet claiming that asset ownership of three major press institutions will be transferred to a sovereign party.

Such reports aim to spread rumors to undermine the political stability and economic growth in Egypt, the NPA said in a statement.

NPA’s latest decision to take advantage of untapped assets owned by Al-Ahram, Dar Al-Tahrir and Rosal Youssef was taken within a plan to exploit assets owned by the eight national press institutions through the establishment of investment projects by these institutions as per feasibility studies, it added.

The plan aims at developing the institutions’ financial resources to help meet their urgent financial needs and improve the conditions of their employees, the body said.

The NPA reaffirmed the State’s firm support for national press institutions to continue their educational and enlightening role, particularly in light of the frenzied attacks by the terrorist group’s media arms.
