CAIRO – Egyptian Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir took part on Friday in the International Transport Forum (ITF), held in Leipzig, Germany upon an invitation of Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Mohamed Abdeljalil, the forum’s president.

On the sidelines of his participation in the inaugural session, Wazir held a series of meeting with German government officials and representatives of companies.

Wazir met with his German counterpart Volker Wissing as they tackled the German side’s support for Egypt’s railway projects to be implemented according to the highest global quality rates.

The meeting touched on the intensive talks with Deutsche Bahn to operate and manage the express electric train as well as training the Egyptian cadres.

In his regard, the minister hailed the German side’s seriousness and keenness to operate such an important facility to achieve the highest value-added to Egypt. Also, the German minister praised Egypt’s efforts to develop the infrastructure, especially the railway, and expand a sustainable green transport network.

Moreover, Wazir had also discussed with CEO of Siemens Mobility Michael Peter topics relevant to the express electric train in light of the ramifications of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

He also delivered a speech during the inaugural session of the forum, thanking the attendees for choosing Egypt as a guest of honor for this year’s edition.
