CAIRO – Head of the Arab Office for Youth and Environment Emad eddin Adly said preparatory meetings bringing together active NGOs in climate change will convene at present to raise the public awareness and unify viewpoints on the role they can play in the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to support the State’s policies in this regard.
Egypt is making all needed preparations for hosting the COP27 which is due to be held in November in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Adly told MENA on Thursday that dialogue with NGOs in Arab, African and Mediterranean regions aims at unifying their ideas, principles and data to back the most pressing issues in Egypt and Africa, given the fact that Egypt is hosting the event on behalf of Africa.
“Our country hosts the 27th climate summit” initiative, launched last January, is intended to encourage NGOs, public and private sectors, universities, women councils and youth to participate in arranging for the upcoming summit, he added.
Adly pointed out the initiative is meant to overcome climate change challenges facing the Egyptian society.
Local platforms will be established in 27 governorates bringing together representatives from parties concerned as part of preparations for the event in order to devise local action plans in the country, according to him.
