CAIRO – Egyptian Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet stressed the ministry’s continued efforts to raise national awareness through magnifying the role played by the Egypt Mint Authority with regard to minting currencies documenting the most important historic incidents and unprecedented development achievements.

Designs of circulated and souvenir coins should be purely Egyptians to promote the Egyptian national identity, he said.

He said 4 million coins of one pound and 50 piaster coins were issued documenting the 90th anniversary of establishing the EgyptAir Holding Company.

In addition, uncirculated souvenir of one-pound gold coins as well as 50 and 100 -pound silver coins were issued.

He added that 6 million coins of one pound and 50 piasters were issued to mark the 150th anniversary of establishing Dar El-Kotob which is one of the cultural icons in Egypt and the Middle East.
