CAIRO – Egyptian Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati discussed with Burundi’s Ambassador to Egypt Sheikh Rashid Malachi the enforcement of a technical co-operation agreement signed between both countries.

The minister reiterated on Thursday that the deal, which is related to the integrated management of water resources, stipulates that Egypt will provide Burundi with technical support to conduct technical studies on the construction of dams for rainwater.

Egypt will also back Burundi to establish and maintain drainage systems of rainwater in the African country, the minister added.

During their meeting, both sides also discussed the results of the recent visit paid by the ministry’s delegation to Burundi in November to probe means on the enforcement of the deal.
