Deputy Foreign Minister for Migration and Egyptian Expatriates Ambassador Nabil Habashi received a delegation from the German state of Saxony to discuss mechanisms for implementing the Letter of Intent signed between the two sides in September 2026, focusing on co-operation in labour mobility.
Ambassador Habashi stressed that the next phase should translate the co-operation framework into practical steps that match Saxony’s labour market needs with the qualifications of Egyptian professionals, creating opportunities for legal and organised employment and vocational training in Germany.
He highlighted the importance of identifying German employers’ specific requirements, engaging the private sector and benefiting from the Egyptian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration.
Ambassador Habashi presented Egypt’s preliminary vision for an executive framework, proposing the establishment of a steering committee and an executive working group comprising the relevant Egyptian authorities, with the possibility of involving private-sector institutions according to the areas of co-operation.
The head of the German delegation reaffirmed Saxony’s commitment to implementing the Letter of Intent, noting the state’s need for skilled Egyptian workers in several sectors, including healthcare and nursing, industry and technology, construction, transport, education, social services and hospitality.
