Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Saturday reopened the historic building of Egypt’s embassy in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, alongside Taher al-Baour, the official in charge of Libya’s Foreign Ministry.
Abdelatty said the reopening carried historic and diplomatic significance, describing the building as a living link between the two countries’ shared past and their prospects for future co-operation.
He said the landmark was part of Tripoli’s historic and cultural heritage and a witness to the city’s political and diplomatic history, reflecting the deep-rooted human and cultural ties between Egypt and Libya.
The minister thanked the Libyan state and its agencies for supporting the building’s renovation, stressing that relations between the two neighbouring countries are rooted in longstanding bonds of brotherhood, social and cultural ties, and shared interests.
