Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production, Salah Suleiman Gomblat, has reaffirmed the political leadership’s full support for the ministry’s role in strengthening the nation’s defence industry, localising advanced technologies and contributing to national development.
He also stressed the ministry’s commitment to meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and the Police while serving civilian sectors.
Gomblat made the remarks during the ministry’s 72nd anniversary celebration, marking the production of the first Egyptian-made round of ammunition at Shubra Engineering Industries Company (Military Factory 27).
The ceremony was held at the Ministry’s Training Sector in Salam City, in the presence of Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, senior officials, company representatives and labour leaders.
During the ceremony, the minister praised President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s support, describing it as a driving force behind efforts to develop defence products, upgrade manufacturing capabilities and transfer and localise advanced technologies through domestic and international partnerships.
He also highlighted the use of surplus production capacity to manufacture civilian goods supporting green transport, waste recycling and digital transformation, as well as the ministry’s participation in projects under the presidential Hayah Karima (Decent Life) initiative.
He stressed that investment in human capital remains a priority, with expanded training programmes to develop technical, administrative, engineering and digital skills and promote innovation, teamwork and the concept of “manufacturing the industry itself”.
He also emphasised efficient resource management, spending rationalisation, waste reduction and maximising production capacity in line with governance, transparency and oversight principles.
