Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, has stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations with Chad, expanding trade and investment ties, and increasing the participation of Egyptian companies in the Chadian market.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Chad’s Foreign Minister Ahmat Kogri on Saturday, on the sidelines of the 22nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), held in Tripoli.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Nader Zaki, said Abdelatty welcomed the growing momentum in Egyptian-Chadian relations, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby to deepen bilateral ties and broaden co-operation.
Abdelatty also highlighted the need to increase trade exchange, encourage joint investments and support the expansion of Egyptian private-sector activities in Chad, building on the outcomes of the fourth session of the Egyptian-Chadian Joint Commission.
The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments and emphasised the importance of closer co-ordination and consultation to address common challenges and support efforts to achieve security and stability.
Their discussions further covered ways to strengthen the role of CEN-SAD, activate its specialised institutions and mechanisms, and expand co-operation among member states in counter-terrorism, capacity building and development, contributing to the promotion of peace and security across Africa.
