Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, and Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar took part on Saturday in a roundtable organised by the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce.

The meeting was meant to explore ways to strengthen trade and investment co-operation in priority sectors.

Minister Farid said the visit reflected the growing ties between Egypt and Slovenia and their shared commitment to advancing economic and investment co-operation amid global changes and the restructuring of supply chains and international trade routes.

He highlighted Egypt’s strategic position as a link between Europe and Arab and African markets through the Suez Canal, and Slovenia’s location and the Port of Koper as a gateway to Central Europe.

These advantages offer significant opportunities to expand trade and investment, he said, noting that current trade volumes do not reflect the two countries’ full potential.

Farid called for making use of Slovenian expertise in sectors such as automotive components and pharmaceuticals, inviting Slovenian companies to establish joint manufacturing projects in Egypt.

He said Egypt was open to different partnership models and could draw on the resources of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt to support joint investments.

He also outlined government efforts to improve the investment climate by digitising procedures, from company registration and licensing to production and exports.

For her part, Pirc Musar said Egypt was a strong business and investment partner in the Arab world, the Middle East and Africa.

She noted that Slovenian companies had the expertise and readiness to benefit from opportunities in Egypt and neighbouring markets.

She expressed hope that the visit would lead to tangible projects, stressing that business communities are responsible for turning opportunities into partnerships, while governments should create the right conditions for co-operation.

She also invited Egyptian companies to explore investment opportunities in Slovenia.
