Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, on Monday, attended the official start of trading in Banque du Caire shares on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), following the public offering of a stake in the state-owned bank.
The trading debut was also attended by EGX Chairman Amr Radwan, alongside senior government officials and prominent figures from the capital market sector.
The listing marks a significant milestone in the government’s state-ownership policy and privatisation programme, which aims to broaden ownership of state-owned enterprises and increase private sector participation in the economy.
It also underscores the state’s commitment to developing capital markets and strengthening the stock exchange’s role as a key platform for financing investment and supporting economic activity, Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed El-Homsany said in a statement.
