Egypts Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) has begun installing the pressuriser in the primary circuit of the first reactor unit at the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, marking another major milestone in the projects development.
The authority announced the achievement during Egypt Forum 2026, only days after completing the installation of the units four steam generators.
The pressuriser is a critical component of the reactors primary circuit, responsible for regulating and maintaining coolant pressure within the required operating limits.
The equipment weighs about 200 tonnes, while the primary circuit operates at a pressure of around 161 bar. A bar is a metric unit of pressure.
It also helps limit pressure fluctuations under different operating conditions, supporting system stability and the safety of reactor components in coordination with the plants protection, control and nuclear safety systems.
NPPA Chairman Sherif Helmy said the installation is particularly significant as it coincided with Egypt Forum 2026, highlighting tangible progress in the projects main components.
He added that the project supports Egypts efforts to strengthen energy security, diversify electricity sources and advance sustainable development.
The NPPA said the successive installation of major equipment reflects its commitment to completing the project according to schedule while meeting technical specifications, quality requirements and nuclear safety standards.
El Dabaa plant is being built in co-operation with Russian contractor Atomstroyexport (ASE). It comprises four VVER-1200 nuclear units, each with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts, bringing the plants total installed capacity to 4,800 megawatts.
