CAIRO, Oct. 23, 1973 — President Anwar El Sadat, in his capacity as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, yesterday ordered the General Command to cease fire at the time stipulated in the Security Council resolution, provided the enemy abides by it, a statement issued by the Presidency said.
The president credited the Armed Forces’ heroism and the Arab nation for the battle, and the move stipulates full Israeli withdrawal and Palestinian rights. Military spokesman said Israel was seeking a pretext to break the ceasefire.
