CAIRO – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Friday with commanders of the Armed Forces appreciating sacrifices made by martyrs to defend the security of Egypt and its great people.

Without sacrifices of the martyrs, the current achievements in Egypt would not have been made, president Sisi said.

After performing Friday prayers at Mosheer Tantawy Mosque in New Cairo’s Fifth Settlement district, Sisi had a dialogue with the commanders of the Armed Forces on local, regional and international developments and their impact on the region.

He praised efforts of the Armed Forces’ personnel in carrying out their tasks efficiently and competently in all strategic directions of the Egyptian state.

The Egyptian people always stand behind their Armed Forces and police to preserve the security of the homeland and preserve its sanctities, the president said.

Sisi performed Friday prayers at Mosheer Tantawy Mosque two days after Egypt marked Martyr’s Day, which falls on March 9.

The sermon focused on self-sacrifice and the high position of martyrdom.

It also paid tribute to Egypt’s fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their homeland.

The president was accompanied by Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Awqaf Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfiq, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, in addition to a host of Armed Forces commanders and senior state officials
