Boosting bilateral industrial ties and joint investment featured prominently in talks held on Thursday between Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem and Côte d’Ivoire’s Ambassador to Egypt, Albert G. Doli.
The meeting reviewed opportunities for industrial and investment co-operation in sectors aligned with both countries’ development strategies, as well as challenges facing joint investments, including the absence of an Egyptian bank in Côte d’Ivoire and the lack of a maritime trade agreement between the two countries.
Hashem reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening industrial co-operation with Côte d’Ivoire and leveraging the capabilities of both countries to achieve mutual economic benefits. He noted that Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030 identifies industrial integration with African countries as a key pillar.
The minister stressed that practical investment projects were essential to accelerating bilateral co-operation and overcoming financial and logistical challenges.
He added that the ministry and the Ivorian embassy would begin identifying priority sectors shared by the two countries’ development strategies to develop viable industrial projects serving both the Egyptian and Ivorian markets.
For his part, Ambassador Doli reaffirmed Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with Egypt and implementing agreements signed during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Côte d’Ivoire in 2019. He highlighted his country’s efforts to attract Egyptian industrial investment, particularly in manufacturing.
Doli noted that Côte d’Ivoire’s development plan through 2030 identifies several industries as priorities for partnership with the private sector, including tyre manufacturing, palm oil processing and agro-industries, offering opportunities for direct Egyptian investment.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to deepen industrial ties between Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire, advance African economic integration and promote joint investment projects.
