The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates has launched the trial run of an interactive online platform for consular services through “Masri Belkharig” (Egyptian Abroad) mobile application, available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
The launch comes in line with presidential directives to improve consular services for Egyptian expatriates as part of the state’s efforts to promote digital transformation and develop government services.
The ministry said on Wednesday that the trial phase currently covers 17 Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions. The application will gradually be made available at more Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions in the coming period.
The app allows Egyptian expatriates to complete consular transactions and track their progress through the various stages until the required procedures are completed. This is intended to simplify procedures, save time and effort, and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
The next phase will see more consular services added to the application, along with an AI-powered assistant to answer citizens’ questions and provide information and guidance on consular services and procedures.
The ministry said the platform is designed to complement other government digital platforms available to citizens.
It also reflects the state’s efforts to protect the interests of Egyptian expatriates, facilitate their transactions and strengthen communication with them.
