The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the National Media Authority (NMA) are set to promote financial literacy, broaden public understanding of capital markets and enhance economic coverage across Egypt’s national broadcasting platforms.
The two sides signed a co-operation protocol on Monday at a ceremony attended by NMA Head Ahmed El-Moslemany and EGX Chairman Omar Radwan.
The partnership aims to position the stock market as a long-term savings and investment avenue, breaking down barriers to understanding trading mechanisms through accessible economic news, expert analysis and simplified financial content.
It will provide regular daily and weekly market coverage, including a segment entitled “A Few Words on the Economy”, as well as workshops to enhance media professionals’ skills.
El-Moslemany underscored the EGX’s importance to the national economy, reaffirming the authority’s commitment to keeping citizens informed about market indices and daily trading activity.
Directives had been issued to Channel One and the Egyptian Television teams to explain economic concepts clearly to both specialists and the wider public, he said.
He also pledged full media support for EGX activities, describing the protocol as a new phase in expanding existing co-operation, with implementation beginning immediately.
For his part, Radwan stressed that sustainable capital market development depends not only on modern financial instruments, technology and legislation, but also on fostering an informed investment culture.
He said the partnership with Maspero would extend financial knowledge beyond specialist circles, strengthen retail investor confidence, broaden public ownership of listed companies and reinforce the exchange’s role in financing economic development.
The agreement will also establish reliable data-sharing mechanisms to support accurate, objective analysis reflecting national economic performance and real-time market developments.
A joint co-ordination committee will oversee implementation, drawing on the exchange’s heritage and its downtown Cairo headquarters to showcase promising companies and translate the initiative into sustainable programmes serving the national economy.
