As new classes graduate from Egypt’s military institutions, top graduates and the families who supported them every step of the way have been celebrating with joy and tears, after a journey of hard work and achievement at the Egyptian Military Academy.

The mother of Second Lieutenant Mohamed Amgad Shehab El-Din, who graduated first in his class at the Military College and was the academy’s top overall student, said he had changed dramatically after his first 90 days there, learning commitment and discipline. She said she was proud that her son now stood among ‘the best soldiers on earth’, adding: ‘Joining the armed forces is a great honour for every Egyptian family.’

Lieutenant (probationary) Mohy El-Din Ahmed Gamal El-Din Morsi, who graduated first in his class at the Naval College, spoke of his happiness at graduating. He urged young applicants to be patient and determined. He pointed to the strong support students receive at the college and the many opportunities on offer, including group and individual study trips abroad, which allowed him to visit more than eight countries during his studies. His father, Ahmed Morsi, expressed deep gratitude. He said that seeing a son join the armed forces was every father’s dearest wish, as he watched him wear the uniform of honour to defend the nation.

The father of Lieutenant (probationary) Omar Khaled Omran, who graduated first in his class at the Military Technical College, spoke of his pride in his son, who has become one of the heroes of the Egyptian armed forces. He said his son had grown into a calmer, wiser leader, able to make sound decisions and rely on himself. The joy of the graduation, he said, outweighed all the hardships of the course.

The story of Second Lieutenant Doaa Ashraf El-Sayed, who graduated first in her class in nursing, also stood out. Her father, Ashraf El-Sayed Abdel Hamid, said he was very proud of his daughter, who had been known for her diligence and discipline since childhood. He said the whole experience and the procedures at the academy had been smooth, and far removed from the fears some people spread. He called on all parents to enrol their children at this great national institution, which he said builds conscientious generations able to shoulder responsibility.

These accounts show that the Egyptian Military Academy is no longer merely a traditional educational institution, but a complete factory for producing men, where children’s dreams and their families’ sacrifices come together to create a strong shield for the nation.
