Foreign ministers of 19 Arab and Islamic nations, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Indonesia, issued a joint statement on Friday strongly condemning Colombia’s decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem.
The ministers rejected the move, saying it violates international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, including Resolutions nos. 476 and 478, which consider any actions that alter Jerusalem’s legal or historic status null and void.
They warned that the step undermines international efforts toward a two-state solution based on a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers also called on Colombia to reconsider and backtrack the decision, adhering to its international legal obligations.
