President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting ceasefires and comprehensive political settlements to regional crises, stressing the importance of preserving the resources of peoples, restoring security and stability, and creating conditions conducive to reconstruction.
He also warned against external interventions that contribute to prolonging conflicts and exacerbating humanitarian suffering.
Joint Alamein Declaration reaffirms respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity
The leaders of Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia agreed on a set of principles and measures to strengthen regional stability, enhance co-operation and support sustainable development, according to the Joint Al-Alamein Declaration issued following their quadrilateral consultative summit held in New Al-Alamein on October 4, 2026.
According to the declaration, the leaders agreed to uphold the fundamental principles of international law, particularly respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states, good-neighbourly relations, non-interference in internal affairs, support for national institutions, and the pursuit of political and peaceful solutions to conflicts.
Armed Forces sign pact to develop anti-doping system
As part of the Armed Forces’ commitment to strengthening constructive co-operation with state ministries and institutions and enhancing professional capabilities across various sectors, the Armed Forces Medical Services Department signed a tripartite agreement with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organisation (EGY-NADO) to develop Egypt’s anti-doping system in line with the latest international standards.
Russia to intensify strikes on Ukraine
Russia will intensify strikes on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Sunday, responding to an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in which he vowed increased attacks on Russian refineries.
Iran’s oil minister resigns
Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has resigned and Hamid Bovard, chief executive of the government-owned National Iranian Oil Company, will be in charge of the ministry as acting minister, state media said on Sunday, without providing a reason for the resignation.
Mohsen Paknejad has been the oil minister of the OPEC member country since August 2024 and resigns as the seven-month war between Iran and the US puts pressure on the country’s economy.
