The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced that the Regional Training Centre for Water Resources and Irrigation (RCTWS) has obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification.
The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Swailem, received a report from the centre’s head, Salwa Abul-Ala, confirming that the centre had successfully passed an external audit of its quality management system in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 international standard and completed all procedures necessary to obtain the certification.
The report highlighted the centre’s efforts to strengthen quality management through the development and implementation of internal procedures, regular internal audits, management reviews, and performance monitoring.
These measures support continuous improvement and enhance training efficiency through the systematic planning, design, delivery and evaluation of programmes aimed at building the capacity of water sector employees.
Swailem said the certification reflects the ministry’s commitment to promoting quality, institutional excellence and improved training services across the water sector.
He emphasised the importance of implementing an integrated quality management system, modernising organisational processes and preparing qualified personnel to meet future challenges.
The minister added that developing training programmes and strengthening the capabilities of water sector employees are essential to achieving the objectives of the Second Generation of the Water System (2.0), which focuses on modernising the sector, improving water-use efficiency, advancing institutional and digital transformation, and investing in human resources as a key driver of development.
He noted that the certification marks an important step towards upgrading the training system and ensuring that the centre’s services meet recognised standards of quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
Swailem stressed the need for the centre to continue updating its programmes to meet the current and future needs of the water sector, helping prepare qualified professionals capable of addressing growing challenges and effectively utilising modern technologies, digital transformation tools and artificial intelligence in water resources management.
He also praised the centre’s staff for their sustained efforts to enhance institutional performance and implement quality standards, noting that further improvements in training services would support the ministry’s goals of developing human resources and improving water management efficiency.
