Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy said the next phase would focus on deepening local manufacturing, expanding private-sector partnerships, promoting innovation, developing digital skills and boosting exports to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional hub for ICT services.
Hendy made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with members of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority’s Telecommunications Industry Committee in its new formation. Discussions during the meeting focused on strategic priorities for developing the telecoms industry. The minister also reviewed key challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
Hendy highlighted major achievements in strategic areas, including the launch of the 2026–2030 spectrum strategy, the expansion of 5G services and preparations for a national data centre strategy.
He said the ICT sector recorded 19.3 per cent growth in the 2025/26 fiscal year, while digital exports had increased by 124 per cent since 2018 to reach $7.4 billion in 2025.
Egypt also produced more than 10 million mobile phones during the period, he added.
