Egypt welcomed a request by the US government for Congress to lift a hold on $320 million in military assistance, an informed source said on Friday.
The source was responding to foreign media reports that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had asked Congress to waive the suspension, the Middle East News Agency reported.
The move reflected the strategic relationship between Egypt and the United States, as well as Egypt’s importance and role, the source said.
