Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, Chairman of the Future of Egypt Agency for Sustainable Development (Mostaqbal Misr) Bahaa El-Ghannam, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber and the CEO of the Holding Company for Food Industries Alaa Nagy inaugurated on Tuesday 20 new “Carry On” outlets in Cairo, Giza, Qalyubia and Alexandria.
The new openings bring to 24 the total number of “Carry On” outlets with further expansion planned in the coming period.
The project aims to upgrade retail outlets, increase the availability of essential goods and provide consumers with a wider range of food products through an integrated network of outlets.
The new outlets offer a range of services including fresh produce, ration goods, meat, fish, and bakery and confectionery items.
Farouk said the expansion is part of a national project to modernise Egypt’s internal trade system, improve the efficiency of retail outlets and strengthen supply and distribution chains.
He added that increasing the number of outlets would provide consumers with more choices while supporting market stability.
The “Carry On” network is also cooperating with the World Food Programme to provide healthy food awareness corners inside its outlets. The initiative offers products recommended under a balanced food basket developed in coordination with Egypt’s National Nutrition Institute.
Farouk highlighted the role of the Holding Company for Food Industries in the project, noting its production, storage and distribution capabilities and its contribution to increasing the availability of food products.
