Solar still

September 12, 1956 – Professor Everett D. Howe, director of the University of California’s salt water conversion project, demonstrates a solar still for making fresh water from salt water. Professor Howe believes that it will be possible to produce fresh water from ocean water at an economical cost within 10 years.
