Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Mustafa Shekhoun, met a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) led by Konstantin Limetovski, Head of Investment for Region 2 and Global Clients. The talks focused on technical and financial support for infrastructure projects, green transition initiatives and sustainable development, in light of the rapid growth across the zone’s industrial areas and ports.
During the meeting, Shekhoun highlighted the rising demand for investment within the zone, stressing the need for continuous expansion in utilities and infrastructure projects, alongside port and industrial development. He pointed to opportunities for public‑private partnerships, digital transformation, and renewable energy projects where AIIB’s expertise could be leveraged.
For his part, Limetovski expressed AIIB’s interest in co‑operation, noting the bank’s wide experience in infrastructure, digital and green projects, and its ability to provide flexible financing and technical advisory services to both public and private partners. He praised the zone’s success in attracting foreign direct investment and emphasised AIIB’s readiness to support further growth.
AIIB, a multilateral development bank, was established to improve economic and social outcomes in Asia and globally through sustainable infrastructure investment. Its focus includes energy and green transition, transport, water treatment and desalination, digital transformation, and PPP projects.
