Egypt’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk said taxpayers’ confidence in the new real estate tax facilitation package has been reflected in the strong uptake of the mobile application.
“Thank you to the taxpayers who responded to our initiative,” Kouchouk said, noting that 612,000 electronic accounts were created through the app during its first two months.
Taxpayers also filed 490,000 tax returns covering more than 830,000 real estate units, including 636,000 residential units, 188,000 non-residential units and more than 6,000 other establishments.
Kouchouk added that taxpayers paid EGP 28 million on account of real estate tax to benefit from the new facilitation measures.
He stressed that the ministry will continue simplifying procedures, developing the mobile application and addressing any challenges facing taxpayers.
