President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi sent a message of welcome to the celebration of 70 years of Egypt–China relations, held in Cairo in partnership between the Ministry of State for Information and China Media Group. The message, read by Minister of State for Media Diaa Rashwan, greeted President Xi Jinping as a “dear guest on the banks of the Nile and a valued friend of the Egyptian people.”
Egypt, Uganda FMs discuss boosting ties in phone call
Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty spoke with Uganda’s new Foreign Minister Adonia Ayebare to explore ways of strengthening bilateral relations and co-ordinating positions on issues of mutual concern. Abdelatty congratulated his counterpart on assuming office and expressed Egypt’s readiness to deepen political and economic co-operation, building on President El‑Sisi’s visit to Kampala in May 2026.
Top Hamas official detained in Gaza City raid
An Israeli-backed raid to detain a Hamas fighter in Gaza City was uncovered during the operation on Tuesday, prompting airstrikes to cover the force’s withdrawal that killed at least four Palestinians, including two children, Gaza officials said.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said a senior Hamas fighter had been detained, while Hamas official Ismail Al-Thawabta said an Israeli special force had tried to carry out an operation in Gaza City before being detected.
