CAIRO – As many as 98 Egyptian female judges assumed work Saturday at the State Council, in the first sitting of any woman as a judge on the bench of the council’s courts.

They have started participating in hearings preparatory sessions to make sure that all documents necessary for pleadings are complete, President of the State Council Counselor Mohamed Hossam El-Din said on Saturday.

The female judges, who were appointed pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 446 of 2021, will be able to access the courts’ benches and assume duties within the formation of the council’s courts as state commissioners.

They have undergone extensive training courses on judicial transitions and skills, and studied a wide range of issues related to national security, combating corruption, and national projects, some of which they have visited, Hossam El-Din noted.

He added they will undergo further training to hone their judicial skills.
