Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting to review government measures for securing supplies and regulating market activity, in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
During the meeting, Madbouly stressed the importance of maintaining logistical efficiency to stabilise prices and ensure commodities are available in sufficient quantities nationwide. He highlighted the need for continuous monitoring and expansion of government outlets to meet citizens’ needs.
For his part, Minister of Supply Sherif Farouk outlined steps taken to tighten market oversight, expand outlets, and introduce digital tools such as “Inspector Card,” “Price Radar,” and price monitoring systems. He announced that from 10 September, 12 basic commodities will be offered at affordable prices, with the list expanding to 30 items across consumer complexes, one-day markets, permanent outlets and mobile units.
Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture Alaa Farouk presented a report on fruit and vegetable prices, noting that domestic production covers local demand and part is exported. He emphasised efforts to reduce intermediaries and link farmers directly with outlets to cut costs and stabilise consumer prices.
Madbouly instructed that permanent commodity exhibitions be established across governorates and that the successful “one-day market” model be expanded. He also directed ministries to publish indicative price lists to ensure citizens have clear access to fair and transparent pricing.
