The “Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development”, in co-operation with the Egyptian House of Zakat and Charity, under the supervision of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, has launched the ‘Back to School’ initiative for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The initiative will distribute one million school bags, stationery sets, jackets and shoes to students from the most disadvantaged families across Egypt, along with food vouchers for their families.
Mobile outlets carrying food supplies will accompany the distribution vehicles, enabling families to redeem the vouchers at reduced prices while receiving school supplies.
The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on families and strengthen social protection, with the Future Egypt Authority overseeing field operations and logistics to ensure that assistance reaches villages and communities most in need.
The first phase was launched in North Sinai, where thousands of students in rural and Bedouin areas received school supplies in the presence of community leaders and tribal elders.
The campaign will continue across the country, targeting primary, preparatory and secondary school students in public schools and Al-Azhar institutes.
Officials said the initiative seeks to bring joy to children at the start of the new academic year while reinforcing the principle of directing zakat and charitable donations to their rightful beneficiaries.
