The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed that Egypt’s epidemiological situation remains stable despite international reports of salmonella outbreaks. Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar said surveillance systems are actively tracking global developments, including recent cases in Belgium and the United Kingdom, while stressing that no unusual outbreaks have been detected in Egypt.
Officials explained that monitoring international events does not imply similar risks at home but ensures early warning and preparedness. Deputy Minister Amr Kandil noted that preventive medicine teams are analysing daily data, verifying reports and assessing risks scientifically. Preventive medicine chief Radi Hamad added that foodborne disease control relies on rapid case detection, investigations, product tracing and timely interventions.
The ministry highlighted the importance of food safety and confirmed that surveillance systems remain proactive and vigilant to detect and respond to any potential risks. This reflects Egypt’s commitment to public health protection and epidemic preparedness.
